10 Inch Chopsaw
The 6” to 10” Chopsaw is a versatile cutting tool that can be used to cut umbilicals, flexible flowlines, steels pipes and wire rope. There are currently two Chopsaws in the Tool Pool and their SAP numbers are 133498 and 133499. The main cutting power is provided by a hydraulic motor driving a 700 mm diameter tungsten carbide tipped (TCT) circular saw blade (Note – cutting wire rope requires a different disc. The tool is clamped to the object to be cut by a pair of jaws actuated by hydraulic cylinders and the saw feed rate is powered by another hydraulic cylinder. The cutting motor and ancillary functions are powered by hydraulic mineral oil from the host ROV or downline package. Further on-deck pressure and flow regulation is possible by adjusting the appropriate hydraulic valves. The system is a compact design which can be deployed with the host Work Class ROV and fitted into an area where there is sufficient space such as the Work Basket drawer fitted to most of our legacy ROV fleet, or suspended by a lanyard from the bumper bar.
